Funds and foundations

Freemasonry extends beyond the work of the lodge. The principle that personal development should also benefit others is reflected in a number of funds, foundations and organisations connected with the Order of Freemasons under the Grand East of the Netherlands.

Although they operate independently, these organisations share a commitment to mutual care, social responsibility and the preservation of Masonic heritage.

Supporting Freemasons and their families

Several organisations provide assistance to Freemasons and their families. The Van Maren Fund offers financial and practical support to Freemasons, their partners and surviving dependants. The Maçonniek Studiefonds (Masonic Study Fund) helps children of Freemasons pursue an education suited to their abilities when financial circumstances might otherwise prevent them from doing so. The Johanna Heilina Foundation provides financial assistance to widows and daughters of deceased Freemasons, while Huize Het Oosten offers care to Freemasons and their relatives.

Supporting broader society

The Louisa Foundation supports initiatives that help children in difficult circumstances grow into independent adults and participate fully in society.

Preserving architectural and cultural heritage

The Maçonniek Bouwfonds (Masonic Building Fund) provides loans for the purchase, renovation and maintenance of lodge buildings. The Stichting Vrienden van Verzamelingen (Friends of the Collections Foundation) supports the preservation and expansion of the Masonic collections held by the Dutch Museum of Freemasonry.

Research and publications

The Stichting Ritus en Tempelbouw (Ritual and Temple Building Foundation) promotes the study of Freemasonry, its history and its method. Uitgeverij FAMA publishes works on current Masonic subjects for Freemasons and the broader public.
