What is expected of you?

Freemasonry is not a casual pursuit. By becoming a member, you choose to join a community in which regular attendance and active participation matter. That requires genuine commitment.

Engagement

Lodges meet regularly, usually once a week or once every two weeks. Members are expected to attend as often as they can. This regularity creates continuity and strengthens the bonds between them. In addition to lodge meetings, you may take part in lectures, shared meals or gatherings with other lodges. From time to time, you will also prepare a lecture of your own, at your own pace and in a way that suits you.

Openness and respect

Freemasonry is based on conversation and the exchange of ideas. This means listening, even to views very different from your own. You speak from your own experience while leaving room for others to reach their own understanding. The aim is not to persuade one another, but to deepen your own insight.

Confidentiality

The lodge is a place where members can speak openly, trusting one another to treat personal conversations with discretion. This is more than a formality; it creates the confidence needed for honest exchange.

Time and continuity

Freemasonry is not a course with a fixed end point. It is a long-term commitment that develops and deepens over time. Many members remain connected to their lodge for years, sometimes for life. Becoming a member therefore means choosing a path of personal development whose full meaning only becomes clear with time.
